Avionica's 2005 Strategy Summit... an Absolute Success!

Avionica's fifth annual Strategy Summit, held November 4th and 5th was an "Outright Success". This year's Summit drew 27 representatives from 16 airlines from around the globe.

Avionica's Strategy Summit was conceived as a forum wherein airline personnel representing Engineering, Maintenance, Operations, Safety, IT, and other areas relevant to Avionica products and services can meet and discuss how Avionica can assist their airlines in the years ahead.

Various case studies are presented (by Avionica and/or customer representatives) highligthing applications of various Avionica technologies, after which the forum is opened to address the questions of all participants. Participants are encouraged to answer each other's questions, relating their individual successes and challenges in technology application.

Highlights of this year's Summit included presentations from Miami Air International, FedEx and flybe., the last of which was given remotely from the UK, and featured a real-time view of data being wirelessly downloaded from aircraft at the airline's Standstead, UK airport facility. Avionica Director of Business Development Carlos Monsalve reviewed the recent, successful deployment of the secureLINK Wireless Router in support of Miami Air's Electronic Flight Bag initiative, emphasizing Avionica's system integration role in that project.

President Raul Segredo presented the group a wireless data transfer ROI analysis, "It was generally agreed by the group that the numbers were conservative", said Raul, "In reality, the financial benefits of wireless are even more dramatic". All participants agreed that the mutual exchange of information was invaluable, and hoped to attend again in the future.

On November 5th, all interested attendees and spouses were treated to a day of deep-sea fishing in the Gulf Stream, off the beautiful South Florida coast. Catches included Spanish Mackerel, Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi), Marlin, & Wahoo. Jetblue's Cindy LoCicero and her catch, a 35 Lb. Wahoo!
