Avionica affiliate Avionics Support Group has received Supplemental Type Certification (STC) for the navAero t•Bag™C22 electronic flight bag system installed as a Class II EFB on the Boeing 737NG (-600, -700, -800) fleet of aircraft. navAero’s t•Bag™C22 computer and display system, along with the Jeppesen Class I/II EFB software, allows commercial operators to achieve a totally electronic “paperless solution” for charting.
Avionics Support Group was awarded STC ST03165AT for B737NG installation on December 7, 2005. The first installation was completed on a Boeing B737-800 aircraft for Miami Air International, who plan a fleet-wide deployment on their Boeing B737-800 aircraft in the coming months.
“The Boeing 737 is the world's most popular airframe, with nearly 4,500 in operation", says ASG’s DER Alex Rodrigo. "We 're working diligently to ensure that all 737 operators can take immediate advantage of the efficiencies provided by a ‘paperless cockpit’. We’re very pleased to offer the first FAA-approved Class II EFB STCs for paperless charting, and believe that our specific design offers unique advantages where ease of installation and human factors are concerned".
Integrating Avionica’s secureLINK wireless router into the system design enables remote, centralized management of the EFBs, ensuring efficient maintenance of onboard documents and a successful EFB program, while Avionica's miniQAR collects and provides the EFBs with real-time flight data in support of performance applications.
