The MCR500 Interface, (part numbers 605-0167 and 605-0168) when used in conjunction with the ABF (Part Number 605-0149 from Kit 802-0149) provides bench level interconnect, connecting the MCR500 bayonet connectors to the various inputs and outputs required to perform audio playback and record. Power input connection is provided to allow the (switched) supply of 28VDC to necessary equipment.

Connection to the MCR500 is effected via an interface cable, which mates the 57 pin
rear connector of the ABF to P1 and P3 of the MCR500. Power supplied to the ABF front panel located connector is then routed to the MCR500 (P3) as well as necessary internal circuitry.

Once the ABF has been mated to the MCR500, the ABF provides a convenient point to connect to the various input and output signals. Playback of stored audio can be accomplished by attachment of the Avionica Ruggedized Service Unit (RSU) and BASE Portable Test Interface to J2 via an additional interface cable and issuing the appropriate commands via RSU menu selections. When the associated PTI is not attached, the MCR500 will automatically record signals, which are applied to the ABF inputs when power is applied.

Visual indication is provided to show the status of power, mode and FDR and CVR fault signals supplied by the MCR500.
